This year the National Student Survey includes a question about your students' union. NSU wants to provide you with a little information about what we do so when you answer you'll be well informed!
Newman Students’ Union is here to represent students and provide you with activities, help and support additional to your academic course. Our aims and a brief description of what we do are outlined below.
NSS and NSU!
Representation
We represent you by sitting on meetings that could affect you the student and your time here at Newman. We also train Student Staff Consultative Committee (SSCC) Reps who are there to feedback to lecturers about your course.
Support
The Union are here to support you through your course, we would like to hear if you are having any problems but also would like to know the good things to keep doing them for future years.
Welfare and Advice
Students’ welfare is important to the Union and we want to help you where possible. We carry out campaigns on students’ welfare, for example healthy eating, and are here to signpost students in the right direction for support. Although we are unable to provide certain advice we always try to be helpful and point you in the right direction, this can include leaflets to help you further.
Sports, Societies and Associations
The Students’ Union facilitates students to run sports, societies and associations. We train committees and captains to be able to run a variety of groups for students to take part in. If you feel that there is not a group out there that you would like to take part in come and talk the Union about setting up something new.
National Student Survey
The National Student Survey is an opportunity for all final year undergraduates to feedback on their experience at University and on their course. It is important for all final years to fill this out as universities and students' unions can look at the results and use them to help improve the learning experience for future students. The results can also affect future students’ decisions on where to attend University. If you are a final year undergraduate please follow the link and fill out the survey if you haven’t already done so :
