1) Ensuring the new Strategy is implemented effectively
During my time as Vice-President, I was heavily involved in focus groups and gathering student feedback to inform the new Strategy. If elected as President, I would love to be able to ensure this Strategy is implemented to its fullest potential and that it fits the needs for the students at the University. As President, this would allow me to be involved with determining clear targets for the Union and making sure the needs of the students are at the forefront of the work we do.
2) Accessibility across campus
This second pledge works on developing the work of the previous President but also work that I have done through being Vice-President. I would like to keep pushing the University for an accessible campus; whether this be through signage, resources or the layout of the campus. I believe that this should, again, be at the forefront in conversations across the institution and means that the needs of students are being met
3) Maintaining the importance of Student Voice
My third pledge is to ensure that the voices of each and every student are heard! Student voice is so important in the running and development of both the Union and the University and this is something I want to continue to encourage. If elected, I would like to encourage engagement across Course Reps, Faculty Reps, Student Forum and SSCC meetings. One goal I would like to reach is 300 course reps across the 2024-25 academic year.
4) Being an active listener
My final pledge is continuing on from the work I have done as Vice-President; being an active listener! I feel like I have done this really well so far, as I am present in the office during the week but also at events on evenings to listen to the feedback of students about what is going well but what we could be doing. If elected as President, I would like to continue to do this, but having the opportunity to pass student feedback onto staff members higher up within the University.
