First of all I would just like to wish you all a very Happy new year! 

Whilst some of you may not have lectures just yet, and may still be working hard on assignments or taking some time to relax, we just wanted to update you all on what we have going on!

This year, as a Union, we are taking part in a strategic review. This is essentially reviewing what we do, and making sure that our services are fit for puropose and fit our student body and their needs. 

The first part of this is a survey. This survey has been running since December and ends on Monday 15th January 2024. We would appreciate it if you have 5/10 spare minutes, to fill out the survey and be as open and honest as possible. When you complete it, you will also be entered into a prize draw. Some of the prizes include:

• One of 6 - £25 Amazon Vouchers

• Newman Branded Merchandise

• Union Event Tickets

As well as this, we are holding focus groups in the first week of February with me and our Union Director, which will give you the opportunity to further deepen your feedback and carry on the conversation! If this is something that is of interest to you, you can sign up here.

Along with this, we are hosting a Refreshers' week. This includes a:

• Back to School Themed Quiz on Tuesday 30th January - 9:00pm - Late for £1

• Back to School Themed Welcome Back Party on Friday 2nd Febraury - 9:00pm - Late for £5

• A Bar Crawl on Broad Street in Birmingham on Wednesday 7th February - Starting in Senses Lounge at 7:00pm for £7.

If you are interested in these events, you can buy an early bird ticket for only £8 for all of these events until Monday 15th January, and after that will increase to £10 for all the events. You can however purchase the events individually. You can do all of this here.

We will also be running several free day time events during this week which we wil be releasing information on in due course.

Before this starts, we are also hosting a few Tuesday events for students who are on campus already or want to come and get involved before the semester starts!

• Tuesday 16th January we are hosting a The 2023 Quiz starting from 6:00pm - 8:00pm in Senses Lounge for £1

• Tuesday 23rd Janaury we are hosting a Music Bingo starting from 8:00pm - Late in Senses Lounge for £3 for 6 rounds
