Restart a Society
As students graduate, or get busy with their studies, some societies can be left without a commitee to run them. To help ensure these much loved societies get a chance to thrive again, we hold onto them for an academic year and encourage students to restart them.
The great thing about these societies is that they often have resources that have already been purchased, such as equipment, flyers and artwork and money in their account. This means that if you Restart a Society you are more likely to have more resources than if your were to launch a new one. However, we take steps to ensure that you will have at least as many resources available as a new society would so there are no disadvantages to restarting a society. Also, we can support you to 're-brand' a society to match your vision, aims and objectives. When you Restart a Society you become that society's committee, meaning it's your society to lead in the direction you wish to lead it.
Why would I Restart a Society?
There are a number of reasons to Restart a Society. Society committee positions are leadership roles, and will give you an opportunity to develop leadership, organisation and team-working skills. These roles can be a unique opportunity to gain leadership experience during your studies. You'll recieve training and support from the Union team to make sure you're getting the most out of your experience. What's more, you will be contributing significantly to the community here at Birmingham Newman University, by enriching the univeristy experience of your peers. This contribution will be reflected on your Higher Education Achivement Record (HEAR) which will help showcase your skills to potential employers, and support your applications for scholarship and postgraduate study.
